Dear parents/carers
I am delighted to take this opportunity to contact you directly to formally introduce myself asthe new Headteacher of Kilgarth School. It is my great honour and privilege to be appointedby the Governing Body to this position.
Since my appointment back in April, my time has been drawn to dealing with the current national crisis. In the absence of previous experience on which to draw, we have had to adapt quickly to put measures in place to manage a very difficult and challenging set of circumstances, as best we can.
As many of you know, I have been working as deputy headteacher at Kilgarth school for the past 3 years, with a short spell as acting headteacher during Mr Simpson’s temporary secondment to Emslie Morgan Academy. I have in fact, been a member of Kilgarth’s staff team since 1997. Throughout this time my passion and commitment to serving pupils and their families has never wavered and as ever before, I remain committed to the welfare of our students in my new role as headteacher.
I believe in nothing but the best for each and every student in my care and am I fortunate and extremely grateful for the opportunity to be working with an outstanding staff team in our relentless pursuit of gaining the best possible outcomes for your child. Your contribution in achieving this is so important and I very much look forward to working with you and sharing their future successes.
I would like to also take this opportunity to discuss the wider opening of schools come
September. We would all love nothing better than to have everything back to normal and to welcome all students back to school, however it is still unclear what measures will need to be put in place, if any, before this can happen. A great deal of detail is yet to be established however, what is clear is that the safety of your child’s return must be our priority and I know you will share the same view.
I will keep you updated of any developments as and when they occur. Your cooperation and understanding with regard to this is greatly appreciated.
I hope that you and your families stay safe and healthy.
Warmest regards
Ms Westlake
