“The first invention project for our Year 7 pupils in the Autumn term was to consider how they might get around on the surface of the moon.
“They were encouraged to design a moon rover buggy and then create a model from their drawings. As part of the design brief, pupils were encouraged to think about the key features needed on their buggy in order to survive, get around and communicate in space.
“Simple model making tools and equipment were introduced and the pupils explored and developed their ideas and skills via model making. The project introduced and encouraged safe working practices, getting used to the workshop environment and developing pupils design and evaluation skills.”
