Enrichment Activities – Visit to New Heath Care Home

Year 8s recently visited New Heath Care Home, which primarily caters for elderly people who suffer from dementia.  All the boys participated on two separate Monday mornings and interacted very well with both staff and clients. The visit coincided with the boys having recently learnt about Dementia in their Life Skills lessons as part of National Dementia Awareness Week.

Prior to the visits, the boys baked biscuits during their socials period and these were received with great thanks by the clients at New Heath.  They also thoroughly enjoyed playing cards, dominoes and completing jigsaws with our boys.

All pupils behaved exemplary throughout and displayed both care and empathy towards the clients.  The care home staff were really thankful and keen to arrange further visits. We are grateful to them and to the residents for welcoming us into their home.
