Year 7 Catch-up Premium

Year 7 literacy and numeracy catch-up premium

Since 2014 the Government has made a commitment to provide additional catch-up funding to schools for each Year 7 pupil who did not achieve the expected standard at Key Stage 2 in Reading and/or Mathematics. The purpose of this funding is to enable schools to deliver additional support e.g. small group or individual interventions in Year 7 to boost pupils’ progress in these key areas.

At Kilgarth we use this catch up premium funding (£2000 in April 2017) to provide additional support for each child in Year 7 who did not reach the expected standard at the end of KS2. The support that we offer to these pupils is tailored to their individual needs, and includes a reading recovery programme in KS3 and small group interventions for literacy and numeracy.
