Visit from Lord Agnew

Lord Agnew, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for the School System, was a welcome guest at  Kilgarth School last week.   The minister, whose responsibilities include academies, free schools and school capital investment, took over an hour from his busy schedule to find out more about the innovative approaches to education being pioneered at Kilgarth.

Alongside Birkenhead MP Frank Field, Lord Agnew met staff and students during his visit and experienced at first hand the positive, compassionate approach that is the key to the school’s success and achieved through a sanctionless approach to behaviour modification, developed in partnership with researchers at the prestigious Goldsmiths, University of London.

Headteacher, Mr Simpson,  was more than happy with the adjustment to the school’s usual Wednesday routine. ‘I’m thrilled with Lord Agnew’s interest in Kilgarth,’ he said. ‘It reflects our growing reputation as a centre of national excellence and is testament to the dedication of a stunning staff team and wonderful body of students.’
