Tour of Britain

It was necessary to close school on Wednesday due to the traffic restrictions for the Tour of Britain cycling race.  However, it was an honour that Birkenhead Park was selected to  host the start and finish of the stage five part of the race as tens of thousands of residents, visitors, schoolchildren and cycling enthusiasts came out to line most parts of the race course and to support the world’s top riders.

Dylan Groenewegen won stage 5 of the race on Wednesday (pictured below at the finishing line) after cycling the 174-kilometre (108-mile) stage which covered most areas of our lovely Wirral peninsular.
