Kilgarth’s Chair of Governors receives her MBE at Buckingham Palace

Sandra Simmons MBE

On 25th June,  Mrs Simmons, Chair of Governors, was presented with her MBE award in the Ballroom at Buckingham Palace, having been named in the New Year 2015 Honours List for Services to Education. She attended with her grand-daughter, Sophie and vice-chair, Ms Watkiss.

Mrs Simmons joined the Board of Governors at Kilgarth School in 1992 and has been the Chair since 2001.  In this time she has supported the strategic development of the school through some challenging economic times and the MBE award is testimony to her commitment to achieving the best outcomes for all pupils.

The ballroom is the largest and grandest room in the Palace and a most fitting venue for the Investiture ceremony where the award was presented to her by Her Royal Highness Princess Anne.

Congratulations to Mrs Simmons from staff and pupils at Kilgarth on receiving your well-deserved MBE.  We are proud to have you as our Chair of Governors.
